Derwentside & District Tuesday Night Dart & Domino League Season 2009 - 2010
Tuesday 9th March 2010 - Singles Knockouts last 16
One of the best nights of the season in my opinion when the last 16 get together in one venue to play for a place in the last 4 on finals night. We were well represented with I Forster, S Dawson, A Colwell, M Laverton & G Webster all playing on the night. As so often happens with these things the first round threw up G Webster V I Forster with Graeme edging a tight game. I could go on forever about some of the quality darts on the night from everyone but probably best just to summarise and congratulate the final 4, P McClean, R Foreman, A Hepple & our very own G Webster.
Tuesday 2nd March 2010 - Shotley A Away
Probably some of our best darts this season and a scoreline to reflect it too, we won the darts 9-1 against a good Shotley team, Hard to name a man of the match with strong performances all round. I hope we keep this up as it looks like it's still a three horse race to top the table this year. Dominoes didn't go so well tonight with a 3-2 defeat, main thing is though we are still picking up points which keeps us right in the mix at the top of the table.
Tuesday 23rd February 2010 - Shotley A Home
Back to league action this week and the tough games just keep coming. Now were getting to the business end of the season we knew we had to start really finding some form if we are to be in with a shout of winning the league this year. A decent 6-4 win in the darts was pleasing with Ian Forster playing very well all night. Another highlight was a 150 finish (T19 T19 D18) by S Dawson to finish an otherwise very average singles game.
4-1 win in the dominoes was just what the doctor ordered.
Tuesday 16th February 2010 - Double Knockout Week 1
A hugely disappointing night for us as a team with none of our pairs going through tonight.
Tuesday 9th February 2010 - Moorcock B Away
On the back of last week we travelled to the Moorcock fully expecting to be pushed all the way. To be straight to the point that's exactly what happened and the quality was first class also with 180's each for A Hepple & G Webster along with a good few ton + scores all round. A fair 5-5 score line and an enjoyable night all round.
We managed a 3-2 win in the dominoes too.
Tuesday 2nd February 2010 - Moorcock B Home
We were expecting a tough game tonight and that's exactly what we got. We won the darts 6-4 but if i'm honest a draw would probably have been a fair result. It was a story of missed doubles swinging games and luckily we nicked a couple more. I think we will have to raise our game a touch for the return leg next week if we are to match this result.
Great performance again in the dominoes saw us win 4-1 and we need every point at the moment to keep us in with a shout of top spot.
Tuesday 26th January -
Singles Knockout Week 1
Start of this years singles knockouts saw four venues of 16 players each. Our team all entered and all had hopes of doing well this year. Myself and Michael were at the Commercial and both managed to get through our 2 games and go through as 2 of the 4 from that venue into the next round.
A decent night for us as a team really with Graeme, Colly and Ian also going through to the last 16. I hope to post the last 16 on here very shortly.
Tuesday 19th January - Moorcock A Away
It wasn't that long since we had been up to the Moorcock and I was very much looking forward to going up there again. We were hoping to put last weeks result behind us and take the game to them hopefully shaking off last weeks nerves in the process. We arrived to see that unfortunately some of the Moorcock team were un-available however they had some ale deputy's. A much improved performance from last week all round with good steady darts from all of us. A 180 from S Dawson immediately after a 134 one of the highlights. The lads kept up the good run in the dominoes to nick that one 3-2.
Thanks again to the Moorcock team and the Landlord & lady for their hospitality as always.
Tuesday 12th January - Moorcock A Home
Strange game for us tonight with everyone once again struggling for any kind of form, maybe due to the recent break, who knows! To summarise we won the darts 6-4 with missed doubles to blame for not picking up 1 or 2 more points. Credit has to go to the Moorcock lads for taking the chances when they were presented. We faired better in the dominoes however with a 4-1 win this week, by the look of the table we are going to need a few more of these to be sitting on top come the end of the season.
Tuesday 22nd December - Jolly Drovers Away
A decent night of darts it has to be said and an 8-2 win to go with it. Some great shots at times including a 180 from G webster and also a 180 & 134 finish from Nev Reed. Great bunch of lads and a good night all round. A 3-2 domino win keeps us up near the top of the table too.
Tuesday 15th December -
Moorcock B Away (KO Cup)
The knockout cup continued tonight and we were not sure what to expect from a Moorcock team that are going well in the league. We knew some steady darts along with our strong domino players should see us through and that proved to be the case. In summary we took all 6 games but to be fair I don't think either team played particularly strong darts and big scores were few and far between. The venue was spot on and so was the hospitality.

Well it's tricky to comment this week seeing as I couldn't make the game, it's also kinda worrying as the team managed a fantastic win without me lol. To summarise it was a 9-1 darts win and an equally impressive 4-1 in the dominoes.
Tuesday 1st December - Derwentside Away
Definately a better performance from us all tonight with some good steady darts from everyone and this reflected in an 8-2 darts win for us. Highlight of the night was Webba just missing the bull for a 170 checkout.
Onwards and upwards is the plan now, with the season well underway it's time to start hitting form and pushing for the top spots.
A steady 3-2 win in the dominoes keeps us in the mix too.

Same old story again in that as a team we really struggled for any kind of form with the performance of the evening coming from Nev in his singles game. Not a lot to report really, the main thing is we won again all be it a close run 6-4.
We only managed a 2 points in the dominoes this week and unfortunately Sam's fantastic run of 10 consecutive wins came to an end in the process..
NOTE: I have eventually updated the K.O. Cup draw in the News & Events section & also the current league tables in the League Tables section.
You could say a similar story to last week in that we didn't really perform as well as we are all capable of, however there was certainly an improvement although unfortunately not in the score line with us taking the darts 6-4 again. man of the match (well lady) has to go to Shazza Hopkins who played steady all night and sunk 3 of the 6 doubles on the night.
A repeat in the Dominos too saw another 3-2 win for us and an incredible 10 wins out of 10 for Sam Parkin.
Tuesday 3rd November - Leadgate Cricket Club Home
Yet again the team as a whole really struggled for any form with few highlights to shout about, a 180 from S Dawson went a long way to helping us clinch the team game. We managed to win the next two doubles to put us in a healthy 3-0 lead, credit must go to the Leadgate lads and lasses for punishing us on missed doubles and turning the game round to be leading 4-3 with 3 to play. We won the last 3singles to notch up a 6-4 win against a decent Leadgate team.
We managed a 3-2 win in the dominoes to keep our decent run going.
Tuesday 27th October - Commercial Away
Well this week kind of writes itself it was the same result as last week in both darts and dominoes. We struggled to get going in the team game and the doubles and were duly punished by some decent finishing. It was good to see Webba hitting a 180 and showing some of the darts we all know he's capable of. Lots of credit has to go to the Commercial who in my opinion have now got together a fairly strong darts team.
Tuesday 20th October - Commercial Home
A very tough game for us tonight we didn't hit our stride at all and were punished for not finishing games when we should. Credit where it is due though the lads from the Commercial took out their doubles and we ended up having to win the last game for a 5-5 draw. Need to try and turn this round next week if we are going to keep ourselves up at the top of the table.
On a brighter note we got a cracking 4-1 domino win which will hopefully lift us a few places in the table.
Tuesday 13th October - Coach & Horses Away
This was always going to be a tough game and it certainly turned out that way. It was a game of steady darts from both sides without many highlights except for a maximum from Pail Fail. We managed to come away with a very pleasing 7-3 win. Dominoes didn't go so well with us losing 3-2 however Sam kept up his impressive start to the season making it 6 from 6 now.
Thanks to the lads and lasses from the coach for a great night of darts, doms crack and good food.
Tuesday 06th October - Leadgate C.C. Away - Team Knockout
First round of the team knockout tonight and it certainly was a tough game, we never really got going as a darts team although S Dawson started well with a 72, 136 & 112. As a team we narrowly scraped 2 darts points and single domino wins from Sam Parkin & Michael Laverton saw us over the finishing line. A good night with a great bunch and cracking supper as always.
Tuesday 29th September - Coach & Horses Home
A very tough night in the darts tonight against a solid team from the C&H. We managed to pinch a 6-4 win with a couple of games being nicked on the doubles by both sides. A cracking 4-1 win in the dominoes though turned around our luck from last week.
Tuesday 22nd September - Chopwell Central Away
Tonight was another night of topsy turvy darts, we pinched the team game after failing to find any scores but thankfully hitting the double after Chopwell gave us the opportunity, The doubles went in favour of Chopwell making the score 2-2 and all to play for in the singles.
The singles didnt start to well but credit to the Chopwell lads who took the first 2 games to leave us trailing 4-2. Shazza won the 3rd game and finished very well to make it 4-3 and it seemed to spark the team into life with strong games from myself, Nev & Graeme to take the darts 6-4 and match last weeks result.
The dominoes sadly was a mirror image of last week, we lost 3-2 although Sam did keep up his 100% record and we also won the doubles.
All in all a good result against a great set of lads, a great venue, cracking food and good crack all night.
Tuesday 15th September - Chopwell Central Home
Week 3 of the season and we were in high spirits after 2 good results against a strong Chelmsford team in the previous weeks. We were expecting a tough game against another quality team which in my opinion will not be too far from the top of the table come the end of the season.
Well, onto the darts and it could not have started better for us winning the team game and the 3 doubles that followed, it certainly was not as comfortable as the 4-0 score line suggested at that point, although we scored well, Chopwell failed to punish our sloppy finishing and we got away with a couple of points. A Fairly strong doubles game from Ian and myself was pleasing with good scoring by both pairs and a no nonsense finish from Ian.
It all then seemed to fall apart a bit when it came to the singles with Ian narrowly losing out to J Bullerwell. S Sutherland, C Gainsford & G Cahill also picked up singles wins for Chopwell against Graeme, Michael and Nev respectively. Colly and myself with the only 2 singles wins to take a 6 - 4 win overall.
Were still looking for consistency in the dominoes and we lost out 3 - 2 this week, with Sam and Michael picking up the 2 points.
It was always going to be tough to match last weeks result, which I though maybe flattered us a little, but none the less we played some good darts and the same can be said for the Chelmsford and we managed to come away with an 8 - 2 win.
To put the icing on the cake so to speak we managed to turn the dominoes around from the previous week and take a 4 - 1 win.
Well here we go again, start of another season. A very tricky first game for us against a team I reckon will be take a good few points this year.
We never really got going, with the exception of Collie who played steady darts all night, a Few of highlights were a 180 from Collie and a good 102 checkout from Nev, also worth a mention is a nice 98 checkout from Peter Mclean.
We managed to come away with a 7 - 3 victory which we were certainly happy with on the night. Courtesy of Ebchester Darts (Tommo)
